Claims of LED lights lasting 50,000+ hours can be false. LED diodes may be tested at 50,000 hours in a laboratory under perfect conditions, but not the LED fitting itself. Problems arise when LEDs are put into luminaires and the heat they produce is not dispersed effectively. Over a short period of time, inferior LED's can drop dramatically in colour temperature and light output will diminish.
